Why federal tax only? The new individual tariff is set by federal law and is known. Cantonal and municipal taxes — which make up roughly 70–75% of your total tax bill — will also change, but the cantons have until 2032 to set their new rates. No calculator can accurately model what has not yet been decided. This tool shows your federal tax change, which is a genuine and often significant part of your total bill.

What exactly changes in 2032
Tax returnsInstead of one joint return, each spouse files their own. Income and assets are assessed separately. No more combining incomes for rate progression.
Child deduction doublesThe federal child deduction increases from CHF 6,800 to CHF 12,000 per child, split equally between parents. A significant gain for families.
Pension withdrawals separatePillar 2 and Pillar 3a withdrawals will be taxed per person independently. Staggering withdrawals between spouses in different years becomes more advantageous.
Cantons follow by 2032Cantonal and municipal taxes — roughly 70–75% of your total bill — will also shift to individual assessment, but rates are not yet known. Expect a similar directional effect.
Federal direct tax only. Calculations based on published 2024 federal tariff brackets, adjusted for standard deductions (3% professional expenses, dual-earner deduction CHF 13,900 each under current system; CHF 12,000 child deduction under new system split equally). Results are indicative estimates — actual tax depends on personal deductions, cantonal rules, assets, and circumstances. Cantonal and municipal taxes are not modelled as implementing rates have not been set. The new system enters into force 1 January 2032 at the earliest.
